Midnight Sun Announcement

Last week a countdown on Stephenie Meyer’s official website appeared and we, loyal fans, started wondering if the announcement was about Edward’s POV “Midnight Sun” novella or a sequel to The Host.

Midnight Sun is the first book of the Twilight series from Edward’s perspective. It was published as a draft on her website in 2009 and since then we haven’t heard anything about it.

If you haven’t read the draft, here’s the link to her website: https://stepheniemeyer.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/midnightsun_partial_draft4.pdf

There was a lot of speculation about why Meyer never published it. Some say because she got hacked and the first chapters of the book got leaked. Others say it was because Meyer couldn’t picture Edward as anything but Robert Pattinson, which messed up her writing and she wasn’t comfortable.

The countdown finished today at 8:30 AM EST/5:30 AM PST but there was an overload of users trying to access the website and it crashed after the countdown finished.

Fortunately we were able to access it and give you the information.

I’ve been waiting for The Host sequel for years! and I got so excited because I truly believed the announcement was for The Host sequel. Unfortunately my wish didn’t came true.

But I can’t complain. We got another book!!!

“There is so much more to his side of the story than there is to Bella’s in that first chapter,” she wrote on her website years ago and I agree. Bella didn’t know about a lot of things at the beginning and Edward’s POV would enlighten us.

Midnight Sun is set to released on August 4, 2020.
